Welcome to the Cat's Eye Perspective!

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

In this blog I want to dive deeper into my Adventures and expose what life as a Photographer, Entrepreneur, Woman, Wife, and Wandering Mainer is like.

When I was a kiddo, I used to gaze up at the universe, stare out the window, or wander around my family's property and pretend to take little snapshots with my eyes. Every forced blink was a slide, a memory, something I wanted to remember and cherish. The way a ray of sun would dance across the trees as I pretended I was in a music video on long car rides, or when the people I love were dancing and smiling... I used to think that made me a weirdo, but looking back I see how that frame of mind has always been a part of me. I like to think I've grown up and matured a little since then, but truth be told I've always tried to maintain a sense of childish enthusiasm, a poetic romanticism , a side of sarcasm and humor (regardless of the depth of the struggles going on underneath).

My Photography has definitely evolved into a visual representation of that mindset. My perspective. I've been put through the ringer, but I am stronger and have more material for my awkward sense of humor than ever! Thus, I merged these traits together adding a dash of creativity and an expensive bill of Photography/Editing equipment to transform into my method of expression, and FINALLY a full-time career. Voila, Cat's Eye Studio.

“I'll be honest; half of the time I feel like I'm still a beginner, and by some people's standards, I probably am....”

10 years of fiddling with camera gear, in and out of relationships with not very supportive or healthy people, while trying to keep my head above water as an entrepreneurial woman was not easy, (or even very rewarding) in the beginning. And yet, I can't help but have a sense of pride in my accomplishments and a hunger for more! Those were the years that showed me how no matter what it was that pulled me away from my true calling, I knew deep down in my big ole bitter heart what I really wanted to do... be a Photographer.

I started by just photographing my friends, family, and the things around me every day. Now I'm still doing some Portraits, Commercial Photography, Adventure Photography, and expanding my horizons as I go! Because I'm an Artist and a Dreamer. I've never been at peace with mediocrity and I intend to keep reaching for bigger and better versions of myself. I've juggled a lot of things in my life, but it is so rewarding to see it all falling into place. I've always loved writing, and for a while I considered it my only method of expression or escape. All in all, I am very enthusiastic (though slightly nervous) about merging my revived passion for writing, with my passion for Photography, and sharing the Cat's Eye Perspective with you all!
